N, R subway trains delayed due to shopping cart on tracks in Brooklyn: MTA
BROOKLYN, N.Y. (PIX11) – There were severe delays along the N and R subway lines Tuesday morning after a shopping cart was removed from train tracks in Brooklyn, according to the MTA.
Crews removed the cart from the tracks near 53rd Street. As a result, there was no R subway service between 36th Street and Bay Ridge-95th Street in both directions.
R and N service has since resumed with delays in both directions.
The last stop on southbound R trains was either 36th Street or 9th Avenue via the D line. Southbound N trains were running via the D line from 36th Street to Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue, according to the MTA.
Commuters were encouraged to take a northbound train for service along the N line in Brooklyn. You could transfer between southbound and northbound trains at 36th Street, New Utrecht Avenue or Coney Island-Stillwell Avenue.
Riders looking for service along the R line between Bay Ridge-95th Street and 59th Street were encouraged to take either a B37 or B36 bus.
