I’m 63 & my man’s 26 – trolls tell me our baby is going to call me ‘grandma’ not ‘mum’ but I don’t care
A 63-YEAR-OLD grandmother who is expecting a child with her husband who is 37 years her junior has hit back at cruel trolls who say her baby will call her “grandma” not mum.
Mum-of-seven Cheryl, who has 18 grandchildren, met husband Quran Mccain, 26, when he was just 15 years old.
While the pair insist there were no romantic connections at the time, they met again at a petrol station eight years later and haven’t looked back since.
The happy couple are now expecting a child together, which they’ll have via a surrogate – and have since clapped back at negative remarks they’ve received from trolls who seemingly disapprove of their age gap relationship.
In a recent clip shared to TikTok (@oliver6060), the duo can be seen sharing one of the mean comments they’ve received from a keyboard warrior: “The baby is going to call you grandma.”
Responding in the best way possible, Cheryl can be seen sitting on Quran’s lap as they look lovingly into one another’s eyes.
Then, they both look directly at the camera in unison and shake their heads as if to say, ‘no.’
In a defiant message shared alongside the video, Cheryl captioned the post: “I will be called mum.”
How are Cheryl and Quran able to have a baby?
As Cheryl is too old to carry a child herself, the couple are having their baby via a surrogate.
This means that another woman will carry and give birth to the baby for them.
The baby that the surrogate will carry will use Quran’s sperm, but will not use Cheryl’s eggs.
This means that the baby will not be biologically Cheryl’s.
It wasn’t long before the post went viral, racking up a whopping 1 million views and hundreds of comments from social media users, with several sharing their well-wishes.
“My dad had a daughter in his 60s. I don’t know and she’s healthy and calls him dad. You enjoy don’t care what others say!!! Congrats!!!” urged one social media user.
A second commented: “Prayers for a healthy baby, and happy home! Happy for you guys!”
“Y’all nailed this! I am so excited for y’all!” a third added.
Meanwhile, another chimed in: “I know you both will be great parents!”
Cheryl and Quran had been looking for a surrogate since 2022, and had three unsuccessful experiences.
But in April 2024, they were delighted to learn that the fourth surrogate they tried was pregnant.
The pair recently appeared on podcast Unmedicated and Educated, where they discussed the stigma they face.
