Prince Harry & Meghan Markle Celebrated Daughter Lili’s 3rd Birthday in a Laidback Way
Happy birthday, Princess Lilibet “Lili” Diana! The young royal turned 3 today, and her parents Prince Harry and Meghan Markle celebrated her in the most low-key way.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex hosted a “pre-birthday bash” for Lili over the weekend, PEOPLE confirmed. The birthday party took place at the family’s home in Montecito, California, with Lili’s friends and other close friends and family members in attendance. The Sussexes, who also share Prince Archie, 5, didn’t release any more details about the birthday party, but we can imagine there was cake and classic party activities to entertain the tots. It sounds just like a party we would have for our kids (albeit in a huge mansion).
Although Harry and Markle have done their best to keep their kids out of the public eye, they have recently shared some details about their daughter’s life. During a visit to a school in Abuja, Nigeria, last month, the Suits alum told the schoolchildren, per PEOPLE, “Our daughter, Lili, she’s much, much tinier than you guys. She’s about to turn three. And a few weeks ago she looked at me and she would just see the reflection in my eyes. And she [goes], ‘Mama, I see me in you.’”
She went on, “Oh, now she was talking really literally. But I hung onto those words in a very different way. And I thought, yes, I do see me in you, and you see me in you. As I look around this room, I see myself in all of you as well.”
Markle also revealed that Lili’s “favorite class” at her preschool is “singing and dancing” because she loves “all the jumping around.” Archie, on the other hand, is really into construction right now.
Last year, Harry wrote in his bestselling memoir Spare that the couple have a dedicated “Lili Land” for their daughter in their kitchen. He wrote, “[The hummingbird] swooped around our kitchen, and flitted through the sacred airspace we call Lili Land, where we’ve set the baby’s playpen with all her toys and stuffed animals.”
It sounds like the toddler is treated like royalty at home, so we bet her birthday party was no different!
