School bus catches on fire in CT; no injuries reported
A school bus caught on fire in Bridgeport on Tuesday morning.
Emergency crews responded to reports of the fire at the intersection of Jones Avenue and Oak Street at 9:30 a.m. and found a “fully involved” school bus upon arrival, according to Tiadora Josef, director of public information for the City of Bridgeport.
Josef said everyone on the bus was able to get off before the first units arrived. It was not immediately clear how many people were initially aboard.
According to Josef, additional fire units were called to the scene because of exposure concerns. The fire was brought under control after about 30 minutes.
No injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office.
The superintendent of Bridgeport Public Schools did not immediately return a request for comment.
