Spurs star reveals he found club’s post-season decision ‘hard to accept’
Tottenham Hotspur ended the season in style with a win over Sheffield United to claim fifth place, but the squad didn’t have long to mull over that one as they jetted off to Australia for a friendly against Newcastle United. Dejan Kulusevski, it seems, wasn’t overly happy about that plan.
After a long and arduous season full of ups and downs, Tottenham players had one more game to play despite the Premier League campaign coming to a close.
The club arranged a post-season friendly against fellow Premier League side Newcastle United, to take place just three days after the normal season came to an end.

The game was played in Melbourne, Australia, meaning players had to take a long flight to get to their base, too.
Almost every fit first-team player was present for the match, which ended in a 1-1 draw, with the Magpies taking the win on penalties.
Spurs man, Dejan Kukusevski, is seemingly not too happy about that fixture, though, and has revealed he found it hard to understand why he had to play the game when the players could (and maybe should) have been heading off on holiday for the summer.

Speaking to Fotbollskanalen ahead of the upcoming international friendlies against Denmark and Serbia, Kulusevski said: “It was hard, but sometimes you just have to accept that you can’t decide everything in life. The club made the decision that we had to go there and then I had to make the best of the situation.
“Of course it was tough. It was hard to accept, but nothing can be done. Others decide.”

Fair play, that friendly game was a weird decision really, and the players shouldn’t really have been made to make such a long journey for a meaningless match.
It was pretty bold of Kulusevski to just straight up say he was unhappy about it, given that we all knew what the feeling deep down among the squad truly was.
Given the fact the club had no European football to bolster their financial bottom line, it was likely to have been a money spinner to have returned again to Australia.
