How Austin plans to handle this summer's heat

AUSTIN (KXAN) -- Austin and Travis County leaders will hold a press conference Tuesday at 12 p.m. to discuss summer safety.
According to the KXAN First Warning Weather team, Central Texas temperatures will climb into the low to mid-90s this week. The Heat index will be between 105°-112°, prompting a Heat Advisory on Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Local leaders will discuss preparedness and what residents need to know about heat, drought, water safety, water and power conservation, according to a press release.
