Radical Sikh preacher Amritpal Singh and Sarabjeet Singh Khalsa, son of one of Indira Gandhi's assassins, have made their maiden entry into Parliament as Independent candidates. Singh won in Khadoor Sahib by a huge margin over Congress, while Khalsa won in Faridkot against AAP. Singh, chief of 'Waris Punjab De,' is in jail in Assam under the National Security Act. Both candidates received overwhelming support from their communities, with Singh being praised for his anti-drug efforts and Khalsa focusing on various Sikh issues.
