BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) -- A Buffalo man has been indicted on new charges following an alleged shots fired incident at a vigil, the Erie County District Attorney's Office announced.

A memorial on April 22 near Memorial Drive and Sweet Avenue was taking place for Jaylen Griffin, a boy who was found deceased after being missing for nearly four years. At approximately 7:15 p.m., Buffalo police responded to the area for a report of shots fired, officials said.

Daevon M. Roberts, 25, allegedly displayed a handgun during a dispute and shot at a victim as they drove away. He is accused of attempting to cause serious physical injury to the victim.

Roberts was charged with first-degree attempted assault and second-degree criminal possession of a weapon.

Roberts is scheduled to return to court on June 18 for a pre-trial conference. He remains released under supervision and faces a maximum of 15 years in prison.

A temporary order of protection issued on behalf of the victim remains in effect.
