Milestones: Good news about Marin people

Graduation: Caitlin Kawamura, of Greenbrae, graduated summa cum laude from the College of the Holy Cross with a bachelor of arts degree.

New board members: Marin Humane elected Dr. Erin Bennett, Amy Farrow, Dr. Marcella Harb-Hauser, Deborah Holley, Sahana Jayaraman and Tom Ladt to its board of directors.

Recognition: Novato High School students Sofia Barker, Piper Coffey, Amara Collins, Finn Fleury, Nikola Fox, Hope Greenleaf and Aleshka McPretl won top awards in the Outdoor Writers Association of California’s Pat Vachini Outdoor Writing and Photography Achievement Awards Contest.

Scholarship: The Marin Nakayoshi Club, a nonprofit organization that supports graduating high school seniors of Japanese ancestry, awarded a $2,500 scholarship to Archie Williams High School graduating senior Tobi Schertell, of Fairfax. He plans to attend Cal Poly Pomona to major in civil engineering.
