Investigation into unlicensed car repair shop in CT leads to discovery of alleged drug factory
A search of a car garage in Somers on Tuesday in connection with reports that the business was operating as an unlicensed repair shop led state police to discover that the facility was allegedly being used to operate a drug factory.
Randy Guyette, 53, was arrested on a number of drug and weapons charges following a search of his Hall Hill Road home which was carried out by members of the Statewide Narcotics Task Force and the Somers Resident Trooper’s Office, according to Connecticut State Police.
State police said they obtained a search and seizure warrant for the premises following a lengthy investigation into reports that an unlicensed car repair shop was being operated there.
During the search, authorities allegedly found unspecified quantities of crack cocaine, ketamine, prescription medications and “signs of a drug manufacturing operation as well as an unlicensed repair business,” state police said in a news release. They also allegedly found three firearms, according to state police.
Guyette faces three counts of criminal possession of a firearm, two counts each of possession of a controlled substance and illegally possessing prescription drugs and a single count each of altering the manufacturer serial number, operation of a drug factory, use of drug paraphernalia and illegally operating a motor vehicle repair business without a license.
He was being held on $100,000 bond following his arrest and was arraigned on Wednesday in Rockville Superior Court.
Court records show Guyette remains held in custody. He is scheduled to face a judge again on July 17.
He did not enter a plea during the hearing, records show.
