In her viral video, Kelcee (@clean.by.kelcee) demonstrated how she keeps bugs away from the homes where she works.

The Arizona-based Airbnb cleaner revealed that she swears by a simple household product to do the trick.

While the state may be dealing with its annual influx of cicadas, there were none in sight while Kelcee filmed her hack.

Instead, she was focused on deterring regular bugs, primarily flies.

Kelcee used a bottle of Pine-Sol Original All-Purpose Cleaner, available for $4.59 from Target, to tackle the pest problem.

She simply added a capful of the solution to a bucket of water before throwing it on the concrete in her backyard.

Using a scrub brush, she ensured the strong scent was spread throughout the area.

She informed her audience that she “only saw two flies all day” after scrubbing in the product.

Her followers shared their thoughts on the technique in the comments section.

“And you also made the whole neighborhood smell amazing,” wrote one viewer.

“I have a spray bottle with Pine-Sol, I spray the flies or around my patio table. They definitely don’t like it,” said another TikTok user.

“If it doesn’t repel flies, it’s sure clean as hell,” commented a third person.

“I have it in a spray bottle on my porch and it absolutely works!” said another follower.

“It does work, also if you add [it] to a spray bottle and spray around doorways and windows it’ll repel other bugs too! [I] learned this in Alabama,” wrote one viewer.

“I put it in a spray bottle and sprayed the whole backyard all around the door frame. There were no flies for our luau pool party,” commented another person.

“Cedar oil is a natural mosquito repellent! This probably really works!!” said one follower.

The pest control pros at My Nature Guard broke down why the product works so well to deter bugs.

“An examination of the active ingredients in Pine-Sol reveals their potential to repel various bug species,” they explained.

“Pine-Sol contains a combination of chemicals, including pine oil, surfactants, and fragrance.

“Pine oil, derived from pine trees, has been found to have insecticidal properties and can act as a natural bug deterrent.”

The experts added that the surfactants present in the product “help to break down the waxy protective layer on insects, making them more susceptible to dehydration and other forms of damage.”
