50 people apply for open city manager position in Manhattan
MANHATTAN (KSNT) - City officials in the Little Apple are moving forward with plans to find a new city manager this year.
Andrew Lawson, a City of Manhattan spokesman, told 27 News 50 applicants have entered their names into the hiring pool to fill the city manager vacancy. The application period for the position closed on Sunday, June 2.
With all the applications in, the city manager hopefuls will be screened with Strategic Government Resources working to help the City Commission create a list of finalists. The City Commission is responsible for making the final hiring decision on this.
Lawson said he expects a public forum or reception will be offered at some point during the process to let locals meet the job candidates. Interviews for the spot are expected to be complete by the end of July with a candidate being selected by early August.
Manhattan's previous city manager, Ron Fehr, announced his retirement in November 2023. He served in the position for 24 years and spent more than 42 years working for the City of Manhattan.
