CT man injured after alleged verbal disagreement escalates into shooting

One man was injured after an alleged verbal disagreement turned into a shooting in Bridgeport early Friday, police said.

Just after 1:30 a.m. on Friday, the Emergency Communications Center received a call from the 1600 block of Park Avenue reporting that a person was outside shooting and people were running, according to the Bridgeport Police Department.

As officers arrived, they secured the area around the 1600 block of Park Avenue south to Maplewood Avenue to conduct an investigation, police said.

Shortly after the call, a 25-year-old Bridgeport man arrived at an area hospital, police said.

The man told officers he was having a verbal disagreement with an unknown Hispanic male when the male allegedly left the area on foot and returned a short time later with a firearm and shot him, according to police.

The man was treated at the hospital and released, police said.

An investigation into the incident is ongoing, according to police.
