Portland weekend events guide: Dragon Boat Races, Zoo Brew, Made With Pride and more

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Take advantage of the sunny weather, and the beginning of Pride Month, by getting outside with friends and family this weekend.

Here’s a guide to some of Portland’s top events.

Spring Rose Show

When: Friday, June 7 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Lloyd Center, 2201 Lloyd Center, Portland, OR 97232

According to the Lloyd Center, the Spring Rose Show is the “largest and longest-running rose show in the nation.” Held by Portland Rose City, the event is expected to feature more than 4,000 roses and about 6,000 attendees.

Shane Gillis Live

When: Saturday, June 7 at 7 p.m. and 9:30 p.m.
Where: Keller Auditorium, 222 SW Clay St, Portland, OR 97201

Pennsylvania-born comic Shane Gillis will have four live shows in the Rose City this weekend, two of which are already sold out. Gillis is the co-host of “Matt and Shane’s Secret Podcast,” one of the leading podcasts on the Patreon platform.

My People’s Market

When: Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Where: The Redd, 831 SE Salmon St, Portland, OR 9721444

My People’s Market features food and products from entrepreneurs of color. Organized by Travel Portland and Prosper Portland, this family-friendly event will include a group bike ride from the Salmon Springs Foundation to The Redd on Salmon.

Dragon Boat Races

When: Saturday, June 8 and Sunday, June 9 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m.
Where: Tom McCall Waterfront Park, 98 SW Naito Pkwy, Portland, OR 97204

Since 1989, the Portland Rose Festival’s Dragon Boat Race has brought large crowds to the Willamette River. More than 60 teams from all over the world will compete.

Zoo Brew

When: Friday, June 7 and Saturday, June 8 from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.
Where: Oregon Zoo, 4001 SW Canyon Rd, Portland, OR 97221

The Oregon Zoo’s annual 21+ Zoo Brew will showcase beers and ciders from more than 50 regional brands. The event also includes live music, lawn games and animal activities. Tickets are $60 per person.

Made With Pride

When: Sunday, June 9 from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Community Wine Bar, , 614 SW Dakota St, Portland, OR 97239

Nearly a dozen winemakers from Oregon’s LGBTQ+ community will showcase their products at the Community Wine Bar. Tickets for the event cost $25 and $30 at the door, with proceeds going toward homelessness organization Outside In.

Cult Of! Dragic Kingdom: A No Doubt Drag Tribute

When: Sunday, June 9 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.
Where: Atlantis Lounge, 3552 N Mississippi Ave, Portland, OR 97217

Expect to hear No Doubt’s greatest hits such as “Just A Girl” and “It’s My Life” at this drag tribute in honor of the group. XO Skeleton, Hezzy Tayte and Anna Quaintance will be just some of the performers at the $15 event.
