462,000 recalled Kia vehicles may catch on fire while driving

0

TOPEKA (KSNT) - The car manufacturer Kia America, Inc. is issuing a recall for thousands of vehicles due to fire injury risks.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) announced in a press release on June 5 that Kia America, Inc. is recalling more than 462,000 of its 2020-2024 Telluride vehicles. The vehicles have a defect where the front power seat motor may overheat due to a stuck power seat slide knob. This can lead to the car catching fire while parked or driving.

If you own one of the recalled Kia vehicles, you are encouraged to park it outside and away from nearby buildings until the recall repair is made. The NHTSA said dealers will install a bracket for the power seat switch back covers and replace the seat slide knobs for free.

Notification letters will be mailed out to the vehicle owners by July 30, 2024. Kia customer service can be contacted at 1-800-333-4542. The recall number for these Kia vehicles is SC316.
