LEDA president: Buc-ee's may be coming to Lafayette
LAFAYETTE, La. (KLFY) -- The effort to bring a long-awaited Buc-ee's location to Lafayette appears to be close to fruition.
According to Lafayette Economic Development Authority President and CEO Mandi Mitchell, discussions are under way.
"LEDA can confirm that we are working to bring Buc-ee’s to Lafayette Parish," Mitchell said, in a Friday news release. "While progress is being made, the deal is not yet finalized as there are several critical aspects of site due diligence still in progress. We are excited for Lafayette and the potential to bring additional retail sales and jobs to our community."
The location would be the second in Louisiana for the giant gas station/truck stop/convenience store. The first, in Ruston, is scheduled to open in 2025.
The Texas-based chain has over 50 locations across Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Missouri, South Carolina, Tennessee and Colorado, in addition to Texas.
While Mitchell did not identify any potential locations for the proposed Lafayette Buc-ee's, somewhere near the corner of I-10 and I-49 has long been rumored to be the first choice.
