TAYLOR, Texas (KXAN) -- Leaders at the state and local level gathered in Williamson County Friday morning to celebrate the completion of the Samsung Highway and other area road projects.
Williamson County, the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT) and the Samsung Corporation held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Friday on the Samsung Highway near County Road 404.
Gov. Abbott was there, along with Samsung Vice President and President of Taylor Project Dr. Chanhoon Park, Williamson County Judge Bill Gravell, TxDOT District Engineer Tucker Ferguson, and Williamson County Precinct 4 Commissioner Russ Boles.
The event celebrated the completion of several road projects in the southwest Taylor area including the reconstruction and expansion of CR 401, improvements to CR 404 and FM 973, water line realignment on CR 404 and the completion of Segments 1 and 2 of Samsung Highway.
The Samsung Highway project constructed a four-lane road to "reduce curves on CR 404 and increase safety," according to the Williamson County website. The roadway connects FM 3349 to FM 973. The project was completed in segments.
