Summer is a week away: What will the weather look like?
PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) — Portland can expect above-normal temperatures to start the summer, which begins on June 20.
After some weekend showers, KOIN 6 Meteorologist Kelley Bayern forecasts drier weather and temperatures in the 70s and 80s next week as summer approaches. While summer-like weather is in the forecast, Bayern said that the second half of June could bring summer rain.
“Models are showing temps in the 70s and 80s, which is above normal for this point in June,” Bayern said. “However, the Climate Prediction Center's outlook heading into the last few weeks of the month hint at wetter conditions returning. Maybe a little more rain or showers are in the cards as we wrap up the month of June.”
The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration Climate Prediction Center forecasts normal temperatures and an above average chance of rain in its 8 to 14-day outlook for the Pacific Northwest starting on June 20.
