Multiple agencies respond to Erie Canal in Tribes Hill

TRIBES HILL, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office announced that Main Street in Fort Hunter and Tribes Hill is closed to all traffic while law enforcement conducts an operation in the area. Sheriff Jeffery Smith confirmed with NEWS10 that responders are searching for a person in the water near the Erie Canal Lock 12.

The New York State Canal Corporation issued an advisory to local mariners that the canal is closed to navigation from Lock 11 in Amsterdam to Lock 12 in Tribes Hill while the operation is underway. Stay with NEWS10 as updates become available.
