UFC Louisville medical suspensions: Andrea Lee, Brad Katona face indefinite layoffs
Following the UFC Louisville event on June 8, two fighters on the card face indefinite suspensions with a couple more looking at potential six month layoffs following the card in Kentucky.
On Thursday, the Kentucky Boxing and Wrestling Commission released the medical suspensions handed down on the card in a message sent to MMA Fighting.
As far as the longest potential penalty, veteran UFC flyweight Andrea Lee was hit with an indefinite suspension until she gains clearance from an orthopedist after getting an x-ray on her right foot. Lee suffered the possible injury in her split decision loss to Montana De La Rosa, which served as her fifth consecutive defeat in a row overall.
Former Ultimate Fighter winner Brad Katona is also facing a potential indefinite layoff until an orthopedist clears him with an x-ray from a right hand injury.
Middleweight veteran Dustin Stoltzfus faces a potential six month suspension pending negative head CT results from his loss to Brunno Ferreira. Stoltzfus previously revealed that he suffered some sort of facial injury after he got blasted with a spinning back elbow that ended his night in Louisville.
He’ll now need a doctor’s clearance to compete again or he’ll be out at least six months.
John Castaneda also faces a potential six-month suspension after his loss to Daniel Marcos on the prelims. Castaneda must receive a CT scan for pneumothorax — a collapsed lung — or he’ll be forced to sit out for the full six month suspension.
Bantamweight Cody Stamann also faces a potential six-month suspension due to a possible broken orbital bone suffered in his fight against Taylor Lapilus.
