The underground flaw in the Red Line study | READER COMMENTARY
The recent article regarding a study by a Johns Hopkins professor on the job benefits of the Red Line omitted one glaring fault of the study. Namely, that it was based on the former plan cancelled by Gov. Larry Hogan (“Study shows Red Line would increase job access for East and West Baltimore residents,” June 7).
The Maryland Transit Administration is planning a different surface light rail alignment through downtown with considerable time delays over the original tunnel. The study should have evaluated the more realistic benefits of the Smart Line alternative (baltimoresmartline.org) utilizing the existing downtown Metro tunnel over surface light rail.
