Man convicted of assault, rape, sodomy in Multnomah County case

PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Multnomah County jury has found a 39-year-old man guilty in the assault, rape, and sodomy of a woman in June 2022, the district attorney’s office announced Friday.

James Earl Griffin Jr. received his verdict on June 13, which included two counts each of first-degree rape and first-degree sodomy. It also included charges of first-degree sexual abuse, fourth-degree assault, and coercion.

Griffin was found not guilty of two counts of first-degree kidnapping. His sentencing is expected to take place July 11.
