Guilty verdict reached in 2022 Saugerties homicide

SAUGERTIES, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- An Ulster County man was convicted of manslaughter after a two-week trial. Joseph Karolys, 39, was found guilty of killing a man in October 2022 after a Halloween party.

The jury found him guilty of manslaughter, assault, and tampering with physical evidence. Officials said the manslaughter and assault charges each carry a prison sentence of up to 25 years in prison.

He will be sentenced in October.
