I spotted a bargain in Morrisons & cleared the shelf…trolls say I should’ve left some for others, but I saved myself £72
A SAVVY shopper has revealed that they spotted a bargain in Morrisons and cleared the shelf – leaving people very divided.
The Morrisons shopper took to social media to show off their cheap buy, and while some were impressed with the shopper’s savings, others were horrified that none were left for others.
The bargain hunter posted on Yellow sticker shopping tips, tricks and hauls, a private Facebook group with 191,700 members, and shared a snap of the reduced buy – a bag of 65 Fairy Platinum All in One dishwasher capsules.
Alongside the snap, the anonymous Facebook user penned: “There were 10 left on the shelf, it was close to closing time, it was eerily deserted by the yellow ticker shelf and nobody else seemed bothered or noticed, so I bagged the lot!”
Thrilled with their buy, the shopper added: “That’s my dishes sorted for once a day for the next couple of years.”
The bag of lemon dishwasher capsules were once priced at £9, but had been reduced down to only £1.80 a bag.
In total, the shopper’s haul should have cost £90, but the savvy saver spent only £18, saving a whopping £72.
The social media post has clearly left many open-mouthed, as it has quickly amassed 619 likes and 147 comments.
But social media users were left totally divided – whilst some were impressed with the shopper’s bargain, others were shocked that they cleared the shelf.
One user beamed: “Fantastic haul.”
A second wrote: “Fabulous, well done, so jealous.”

Whilst someone else penned: “This one is really a good bargain, I would have run for it.”
However, one person said: “That’s brilliant but I’d have left a couple for others.”
And another added: “Am all for saving a penny or two but would have felt the need to leave a few for others too. Cracking savings though.”
When do supermarkets put out yellow-sticker bargains?
The time supermarkets reduce their products vary across stores.
Here’s a rough supermarket-by-supermarket guide:
Aldi
Aldi uses a red sticker to show reductions on fresh products such as bread, meat, fruit and vegetables.
This is when they have reached the last day of shelf life.
Red stickered items are most commonly found at opening and closing times.
M&S
Reduction times can vary from store to store but is most likely to occur near closing time.
Asda
Asda told Which? that yellow stickers are applied twice a day – in the morning and evening.
Co-op
Co-op told The Sun its reduced-to-clear prices are generally applied about four hours before the store closes.
Lidl
Lidl has a similar procedure to Asda and Aldi with reductions twice a day.
However individual stores may opt to reduce prices throughout the day.
Morrisons
Shoppers online have said that Morrisons does the best bargains first thing in the morning.
However, the store told Which? that there are no specific times for yellow sticker price cuts.
Sainsbury’s
Sainsbury’s told The Sun it’s at the store manager’s discretion whether to offer discounts.
However, shoppers have reported that the best deals are in the evening from 6pm.
Tesco
Tesco has said there is no specific time for reduction, but again most people found that prices were reduced from 6pm.
Waitrose
As with most of the other stores, Waitrose shoppers have said the best reductions are found before closing.
However the store stated that there is no specific time for yellow stickers to be applied.
At the same time, other bargain hunters admitted that they too would have cleared the shelves.
One Morrisons lover explained: “I would 100% have bagged the lot.”

Whilst one Facebook user shared: “Don’t blame you, don’t worry about what time of day it was. It’s there to buy. If I had a dishwasher I’d have done the same.”
