King Charles and Queen Camilla to attend historical Garter Day ceremony
King Charles and Queen Camilla are preparing to join the yearly Garter Day ceremony in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The service celebrates the ancient Order of the Garter, the country’s oldest and most senior order of knighthood.
New Knights Companion will be invested, including Andrew Lloyd-Weber, the composer of hit musicals such as Cats and The Phantom Of The Opera.
The event will also make history as the first gathering of the order with a female Chancellor, former spymaster Baroness Manningham-Buller, who was appointed by the King earlier this week.
It follows a weekend of royal pageantry kicked off by Saturday’s Trooping the Colour ceremony, which saw Princess Kate’s first return to public duties since her cancer diagnosis.
The following day, King Charles attended the Cartier Queen’s Cup polo competition in Egham, Surrey, while the Sussexes shared a touching Father’s Day tribute by Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.
