Report: Spurs face competition from Man United and Liverpool for £51m winger

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham could have quite a bit of competition to contend with in the race for Real Sociedad star Takefusa Kubo this summer.

A couple of days ago, it was reported that Spurs had made their first move for Kubo by submitting an offer of around €50m (£43m) for the Japan international (TeamTALK).

The report stated that although Kubo’s release clause stands at €60m (£51.4m), Spurs are ‘determined’ to sign the player for less than the stipulated clause.

It was explained that while Real Sociedad wanted to keep hold of the attacker, Tottenham’s offer is quite ‘tempting’ for the La Liga side, who might ‘seriously consider’ accepting it.

Competition could intensify for Takefusa Kubo

Mundo Deportivo have also credited Tottenham with an interest in Kubo but they state that Sociedad have not received any offers for their star man until now.

However, that is expected to change soon, with Ange Postecoglou’s men said to have shown a willingness to launch a bid for the 23-year-old.

The outlet reveals that four other Premier League clubs have also enquired about Kubo, with Liverpool and Man Utd named as long-time admirers of the winger.

The publication adds that Sociedad would only let Kubo leave this summer if his release clause is met.

It sounds like Tottenham are keen to get a head start on the competition by making an early offer for Kubo.

The existence of the release clause should make the deal relatively straightforward to complete but it remains to be seen if Spurs would be prepared to pay the amount.
