Commenting on a Reddit post, user Neither_Interview_12 revealed the kitchen item they swear by to treat bad burns.

They explained that their skincare workaround helps return their complexion to its natural color.

“To get rid of redness quickly, an apple cider vinegar-soaked washcloth works best,” they said.

“You douse a washcloth with apple cider vinegar and pat the areas that are burnt.”

Apple cider vinegar is available for as little as $1.29 from stores such as Target.

The Redditor pointed out that the effective trick does not come without a sacrifice.

“It smells pretty bad afterward so I recommend going to sleep in it [to increase] the effectiveness,” they said.

The social media user also revealed an additional step to help tackle the burn pain.

“However, it only takes away the redness and not necessarily any pain associated with it so throughout the day just apply aloe vera for the pain,” the poster recommended.

They assured their fellow Reddit users the simple trick sees fast results.

“I promise you if you sleep with the apple cider vinegar the sunburn will be gone by morning,” they said.

The experts at Family Urgent Care broke down the role of apple cider vinegar in treating sunburns.

“Its popularity stems from the belief that its anti-inflammatory properties alleviate the discomfort caused by sunburn,” they explained.

However, no scientific or medical research backs the ingredient as a sunburn relief.

Medical professionals advise against applying undiluted apple cider vinegar directly to your skin.

Dermatologist-approved anti-aging tips

Dermatologist Dr. Brendan Camp shared his dermatologist-approved tips with The U.S. Sun.

  • Stop using tanning beds.
  • Don’t use sunscreen to contour your face.
  • Wear driving gloves to protect your hands from the sun. He likes Coolibar Gannett UV Gloves UPF 50+, $15.99 to $39.
  • Exercise, stick to a healthy diet, and get enough sleep.
  • Don’t drink excessively or smoke.

They cited increased damage and irritation caused by the item’s acidic nature.

If you still want to try out the hack, the health pros revealed the safest options.

The first method involves adding highly diluted apple cider vinegar to your bath.

This is believed to provide a cooling effect to your sunburns when submerged.

You can also create a diluted mixture and spray directly onto your burned areas.
