Paravent Bed
Paravent Bed is a minimalist bed created by Brooklyn-based designer Danny Kaplan. Danny Kaplan Studio, renowned for its functional handcrafted lighting and furniture, has partnered with Lesser Miracle, an art and design practice, to launch the Delf. Among the four-piece furniture line includes the Paravent Bed, available in custom sizes and made of Oak with ceramic details and brass hardware. The collection’s standout feature is its intricate woodwork, which incorporates ceramic inlays within dug-out “canals.” This meticulous craftsmanship results from a collaborative effort between the two New York-based studios, blending eclectic, decorative design with innovative creativity and craftsmanship. Danny Kaplan, founder of the eponymous studio, combines functional and decorative elements in his handcrafted ceramic works, reflecting influences from his childhood in the South of France. His designs balance ancient and modern aesthetics, creating timeless, minimalist forms.
Lesser Miracle, founded by Vince Patti and known for Brutalist-inspired motifs, contributes a distinctive artistic vision to the collaboration. Patti’s background in sculpture and fine art informs his bold, imaginative furniture designs, rooted in a belief that ancient techniques can inspire futuristic possibilities. The Delf Collection originated from a sketch Kaplan shared with Patti for a bed featuring a hinged-screen wood headboard with geometric tile detailing, reminiscent of Art Deco furniture. This initial design led to a broader collection that includes two complementary bedside tables and a dynamic armchair, all showcasing the duo’s combined expertise and vision. Kaplan’s mastery of ceramics and Patti’s woodworking skills come together in the Delf Collection, with inlay tiles produced in Kaplan’s studio and wooden components crafted in Patti’s Brooklyn workshop.
