Gary Kirsten Says ‘There’s No Unity In Pakistan’s Team’ After Men In Green’s Group Stage Exit From T20 World Cup 2024
New Delhi: Pakistan’s newly-appointed white-ball head coach Gary Kirsten lashed out at his own players, stating ‘there is no unity’ among the Men in Green after their group stage exit from the ongoing T20 World Cup 2024. Pakistan, champions in 2009, managed just two wins out of four and finished third in the points table behind India and co-hosts USA. Their only wins came against Canada and Ireland.
“There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team, They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation,” Kirsten was quoted as saying by Pakistani journalist Ihtisham Ul Haq on ‘X’.
Pakistan’s coach Gary Kirsten shocking statement,
“There’s no unity in Pakistan’s team, They call it a team, but it isn’t a team. They aren’t supporting each other; everyone is separated, left and right. I’ve worked with many teams, but I’ve never seen such a situation”.

The addition of Kirsten didn’t do any help to Pakistan cricket. Led by Babar Azam, Pakistan slumped to their worst-ever show in a T20 World Cup, as they were eliminated from the group stage. Pakistan started with a shock loss to USA before succumbing to a narrow six-run loss to arch-rivals India. Pakistan did win their next two games against Canada and Ireland but that didn’t help as their elimination was conformed after USA’s match against the Irishmen was abandoned due to rain.
For the unknown, Kirsten had a good record as far as managing teams is concerned. He was the India head coach when MS Dhoni’s men defeated Sri Lanka in 2011 ODI World Cup final. He was also the mentor of Gujarat Titans when the franchise won IPL in 2022 and finished runners-up the next year.
