Pens to face Senators in 2024 Kraft Hockeyville preseason game

The game will be held in Elliot Lake, Ontario in late September.

This fall, the Penguins will be participating in the NHL’s Kraft Hockeyville game as a part of the team’s preseason schedule.

The Penguins announced over the weekend that on September 29, they'll be facing the Ottawa Senators in Elliot Lake, Ontario.

“The Pittsburgh Penguins are excited to participate in Kraft Hockeyville this fall,” said President of Hockey Operations and General Manager Kyle Dubas. “Having grown up in Northern Ontario, I understand how impactful the event will be for the people of Elliot Lake and the surrounding area. The investment in Elliot Lake and the game itself provide the Penguins with a great opportunity to contribute to the growth of the sport in an area of the world that truly loves ice hockey!”

The Penguins have played in the Kraft Hockeyville game twice previously, both being played at small arenas here in the Pittsburgh area.

In 2015, the team played in the inaugural Kraft Hockeyville USA preseason game at the Cambria County War Memorial Arena in Johnstown, Pennsylvania and at the UPMC Lemieux Sports Complex in 2017 when the Rostraver Ice Garden when Belle Vernon won the title of Kraft Hockeyville USA.

As has been the case with former Kraft Hockeyville games, Elliot Lake will receive $250,000 for arena upgrades and $10,000 worth of youth hockey equipment from the NHLPA Goals & Dreams fund.

Details surrounding the game including a specific location and time have yet to be announced.
