Grammys poll: Which song should Billie Eilish submit from ‘Hit Me Hard and Soft’?
When Billie Eilish released her third studio album, “Hit Me Hard and Soft,” the lead single and music video that went along with it was “Lunch,” so that seemed like a natural choice as her eventual Grammy submission for Record of the Year, Song of the Year and various other categories. But on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart dated June 15, the breakout album track “Birds of a Feather” (number-11) actually climbed above “Lunch” (number-13). And on Spotify’s weekly USA top songs chart for the week of June 13, “Birds” was at number-three, while “Lunch” was down in 10th position. So which hit should she enter for consideration? Scroll down to vote in our poll.
In addition to “Birds” and “Lunch,” there’s also “Chihiro,” which has made a somewhat more modest splash on the charts, peaking at number-12 as of the June 15 Hot 100 and currently at number-13 on US Spotify. But she recently dropped a video for the song that could lead to a spike, so that’s in the conversation as well. But it’s possible she’ll be nominated regardless of what she submits. She won Record of the Year and Song of the Year for “Bad Guy” in 2020. Then she won Record of the Year again in 2021 for “Everything I Wanted.” And she picked up Song of the Year again in 2024 for “What Was I Made For?”
In-between those historic victories, she was shut out of her seven Grammy nominations for her album “Happier Than Ever” in 2022, but she nevertheless received Record and Song of the Year nominations for the title track. Nothing is a foregone conclusion at the Grammys, though, so this could be a consequential choice. Who better to guide her, therefore, than the music fans who know the Grammys better than anyone else on the web? Take your pick below.
