Billy Ray Cyrus’ Latest Legal Move Shows What Really Happened Between Him & Firerose
When Billy Ray Cyrus filed for divorce from his wife of seven months, Firerose, we all braced for some drama. After all, in addition to splitting after less than a year together, Cyrus also accused the Australian singer of fraud and asked for an annulment of their marriage.
Most recently, Cyrus filed an emergency motion in a Tennessee court seeking a temporary restraining order, per People. With those documents, we’re getting a better idea of what went down between these still newlyweds.
According to the documents, Cyrus alleges Firerose (real name Johanna Rose Hodges) spent $96,986 on 37 unauthorized charges on his business account, including $70,665 in payments to her attorneys, in recent weeks.
“As a result of these fraudulent charges, I am concerned that Ms. Hodges is in possession of other information that she may use to make fraudulent, unauthorized charges to my business and personal credit cards and accounts,” Cyrus wrote.
According to Cyrus, the charges began a day after he filed for divorce on May 22.
In response to the allegations, Firerose’s lawyers denied the accusations. “To claim Wife has made 37 unauthorized charges is untrue,” her attorneys wrote in the response filing, per People. “Throughout the divorce proceedings, the parties are to live as per the status quo during the marriage. Wife was simply living as she has since October 10, 2023, and Husband has no right to cut her off.” Seems like Cyrus doesn’t agree…
A new source also spoke out about how Cyrus is feeling, and claims the “Achy Breaky Heart” singer thinks Firerose was planning to take advantage of him all along. “She isn’t the person he thought he married,” an insider told People.
“He believes that she married for other reasons but love,” they continued. “He believes she married him so he can take care of her financially. They’ve had drama and trust issues about money.”
“He wants her out of his life,” the source continued. “They have a prenup. He’s disappointed right now, but surely will turn it around quickly. He tends to be a very positive guy.” Here’s hoping Cyrus can turn this one around!
