CTA Green, Orange lines resume service 4 hours after track fire near Roosevelt Road
CTA Green and Orange line trains are running again after a fire on the tracks halted service in the South Loop for more than four hours.
Trains were not allowed to pass the area near 15th Street and Wabash Avenue after a small fire was reported about 11:40 a.m. Monday, according to the Chicago Fire Department and a Chicago Transit Authority alert.
Service resumed again around 4 p.m., said CTA spokesperson Maddie Kilgannon.
The fire department initially responded to a fire on the tracks and gave the all-clear to restore track power about 2:10 p.m., Kilgannon said. The CTA performed emergency repairs before allowing trains to resume moving.
