Junior Monarch semi-finalists announced
Kenaz Bit Bit Walker will perform first during the calypso category at the semi-finals of the Scotiabank Junior Monarch Competition, while Jade Leilani Roach will go first in the soca section of the annual contest.
The line-ups were announced on Tuesday during the media launch and semi-final draw in Scotiabank’s parking lot at the Warrens, St Michael office.
The semis are scheduled to be held on July 7 at the National Botanical Gardens, St Michael and Bit Bit will be followed by: Rashonna Shonna B Browne, Haylei Hailstorm Wise, Relissa N’Kyla Mitcham, Deyonte Yonte Brathwaite, Alyssa Queen A Cumberbatch, Khalijah Khaleesi Kellman, Charity Murrell, Kadarius King K Allen, Sabiah Gaskin, Trinity Clarke, Rimiya Majestic Miya Wilson, and Eden Potent Murrell.
In the soca category, Leilani will be followed by Kari-Anne Kari Holford-Sam, Kymani Mr Showman Devonish, Ranesha Stewart, Joshua Josh Ox Oxley, Talisia Mottley, Joshua Joshua B Blackman, Israel John Boss Savoury, Sephon Lil Stathis Sealy, Rojani Shurland-Agard, Kyle Twin Boy Bishop, Jayden Inniss and Jazarie Zarie B Belgrave.
At the launch Managing Director at Scotiabank, Suzette Armoogam-Shah, presented Chief Executive Officer at the National Cultural Foundation (NCF) Carol Roberts with the sponsorship cheque.
Event producer and music officer at the NCF Kevin Moore congratulated the contestants on their progress and the work they’ve put in during the developmental competition.
This year, there were over 40 entrants – more than 20 in the traditional calypso category, and 15 across the bashment, sweet and power soca formats.
