Love Ganni? I’ve found a great £28 dupe of their £285 Bou Bag
GANNI has stolen our hearts for many reasons, the designs, the fabrics, the recognisable prints, but the price tags often have us seeking out affordable dupes.
Case in point is Ganni’s Bou Bag, which we adore everything about – except for the sub £300 price tag. However, ASOS is selling a very similar alternative we are adding to basket immediately.
Topshop Gale grab bag with knotted handle detail
ASOS’ Topshop Gale Grab Bag for £28, looks almost identical to Ganni’s Light Grey Small Ganni Bou Bag which is priced at £375 – saving you a huge £347.
But is it a good dupe? We put the two bags to the test.
At first glance, the Topshop Gale Grab Bag is a slightly smaller design than the original Ganni creation but can still be worn as a handbag, or over the shoulder.
The Topshop bag comes in two versatile colours; black and neutral, both of which have the miniature bucket shape, and feature two handles that are secured by a knot detail.
The straps are similar to the Ganni design, which features a knot detail around the fastening between the handles and the body of the bag.
However, Ganni’s bag features nine braided chords of fabric entwined, whereas the Topshop number is just one chord-like strap.
The Topshop bag has a strap length of 10cm, whereas the Ganni design has a short handle, as well a detachable longer strap to allow wearers to style the bag across the body, or held in the hand.
Light Grey Small Ganni Bou Bag
The Ganni Bou bag has been designed from recycled leather and comes in 13 colours, including a neutral oyster grey, and black, as well as more vibrant hues, such as red, orange, green and many more shades.
Ganni’s Bou Bag is shaped in a hexagonal silhouette, whereas the Topshop design is a little less structured with softer edges.
The Ganni Bou Bag boasts numerous compartments, as it features two internal segments, secured by an internal magnet closure, as well as a card pocket – but it appears the Topshop bag is just one large compartment.
While there are subtle differences between the Topshop and Ganni bags, the hefty price difference makes the Topshop purchase a favourite in our books.
