Suspect allegedly stole from visually impaired man on NYC subway platform: police

CONEY ISLAND, Brooklyn (PIX11) – A suspect allegedly stole from a visually impaired man on a subway platform in New York City earlier this month, police said Wednesday.

The incident happened at the Neptune Avenue subway station in Coney Island, Brooklyn, around 3:50 p.m. on June 7, according to the NYPD.

The suspect, who was standing on the subway platform holding a box of candy, allegedly approached the 58-year-old victim and stole his cellphone out of his pocket, police said. The suspect then fled out of the station, authorities said.

The suspect is believed to be about 5 feet 5 inches tall. He was last seen wearing a black baseball cap, a red T-shirt, blue jeans, white sneakers and a black backpack, police said.

The NYPD released surveillance images and video of the suspect, who hasn’t been caught.
