Tamil Nadu fire and rescue services were called to rescue a family trapped on the first floor of their home after their landlord demolished the staircase due to a dispute over rent payment. The landlord, Srinivasan, had already cut off the electricity, drinking water, and sewage lines to the property the previous week.
