IPHONE owners have been left stunned after discovering a secret purpose for the line at the bottom of their screen.
The feature has been around for years and came about to replace the physical home button.
iPhone X, released back in 2017, was first to adopt the line in a bid to give users more screen space overall.
People use the feature countless times every single day to unlock their phone by swiping up from the bottom.
But it turns out the line has a little-known secondary purpose, as users on social media have been recently shouting about.
And it could save you time when switching between apps.
Most people swipe up about a quarter of the way and wait for a carousel of all previous apps to suddenly appear when they want to switch back.
But it turns out there’s a much faster way involving the line for when you simply want to hop back to the very last app you used.
“How did I not know this?” one iPhone owner wrote on Instagram.
“Never knew that,” another commented.
“I’m new to iPhone thanks for this,” a third added.
To use the feature, you’ll need to have your iPhone unlocked and in use within an app.
Slide along the line from left to right and it will take you directly to the last app you used.
Of course, if you want to go to an app much further back in your history it’s quicker to stick to the usual method.

- Move apps around faster – Hold an app until it starts wiggling, then (while still holding) tap other apps, causing them to stack so you can move them around easier
