OPELOUSAS, La. (KLFY)-- The Opelousas Police Department is investigating two separate shootings that happened Sunday morning.
Officers responded to the first shooting around 2:50 a.m., and arrested Riokeem Cheeks; the suspect is being charged with illegal use of dangerous weapons and instrumentalities. The victim was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, but has now been released. Authorities are reviewing video footage and anticipate making more arrests in this shooting.
The second shooting happened around 10:40 a.m. in the area of Juanita Street and W. Prudhomme. The suspect has not been identified but was operating the vehicle pictured. The victim sustained severe injuries but is now in stable condition.
