Two firefighters injured battling blaze at commercial building in Bridgeport
Two firefighters were injured battling a blaze at a commercial building in Bridgeport on Sunday evening, officials said.
Fire units responded to a report of a structure fire at 317 Mountain Grove Ave. at 5:30 p.m. Sunday, according to Tiadora Josef, director of public information for the City of Bridgeport.
The first unit at the scene reported smoke billowing out of the building. “After further investigation, it turned out to be a van on fire in the old Bodine Building,” Josef said.
An additional ladder truck and engine company were dispatched to the scene to help fight the fire, which was brought under control in 30 minutes, according to Josef.
Two firefighters were injured at the scene but were “OK,” Josef said.
The fire is currently under investigation by the Fire Marshals Office, according to Josef. No further information was available at this time.
