Saratoga teenager to compete on U.S. Saddle Seat World Cup Team
GANSEVOORT, N.Y. (NEWS10) - Sophia Eckardt recently made the U.S. Equestrian Team. In December, she will represent her country in South Africa for the International Saddle Seat Equitation World Cup.
The 18-year-old athlete has been riding at Rolling Oaks in Gansevoort since she was seven. She enjoys teaching her love of the sport with people of all ages.
“It means a lot I think that's what makes this so big, and exciting, is we’re from all parts around the U.S. and we can all meet together. For the World Cup specifically, we’re focused on equitation, so it’s based on your form, and how you present yourself,” she said.
Sophia has a busy year ahead of her. This week the senior will graduate from Saratoga Springs High School. She will be attending the University of New Hampshire in the fall.
