At least 3 teens and 12-year-old girl shot Sunday night, amid continued weekend violence

At least four people under the age of 18 — including a 12-year-old girl — were shot Sunday night in separate shootings, according to Chicago police.

Three of the teenagers were shot in Armour Square, police said.

At approximately 9:46 p.m., an unknown person exited a vehicle near the 200 block of West Pershing Avenue and fired shots at the victims, according to a witness.

A 15-year-old girl was shot in the leg, a 15-year-old boy was shot in the upper back, and a 17-year-old girl was shot in the left arm. All three were transported to Comer Children’s Hospital and are in good condition, according to police.

Later that night, a 12-year-old girl was shot in Wicker Park, police said. She was a passenger in a car when an unknown vehicle fired shots around the 2500 block of West Division Street at approximately 11 p.m.

The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the left calf that exited into her right leg, according to police. She was transported to St. Mary’s Hospital in good condition, police said.

There are no offenders in custody and detectives are investigating.

Sunday’s shootings are a continuation of the weekend’s violence, including the shooting of five people under the age of 18 earlier in the weekend, two fatally.

The violence comes amid calls from Ald. Brian Hopkins, 2nd, to push the city’s curfew for teenagers to 8 p.m. The city already has a 10 p.m. curfew for people 17 and younger not accompanied by adults, and a 6 p.m. curfew in Millennium Park.
