Ben Jacobs makes transfer prediction involving Spurs-linked defender
Ben Jacobs has said that he expects Manchester United to make an approach for rumoured Tottenham target Max Kilman this summer, revealing that the club have been discussing a move for the Wolves defender since April.
Max Kilman could be set to leave Wolves this summer
Tottenham continue to be linked with a whole host of central defenders and it is far from clear at the moment who the Lilywhites top target for the position is.
One of the latest names to be mooted as a target is Kilman, with Spurs insider Paul O Keefe telling the Last Word on Spurs podcast last week that the 27-year-old is another name on Ange Postecogolou’s transfer wishlist.
The centre-back has four years left on his contract at Molineux, however, according to O’Keefe, the North London club might look to bring him to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this summer.
A few days ago, GiveMeSport backed up Tottenham’s interest in Kilman, with the report adding that Man Utd are also ready to make a move for the Englishman after admitting defeat in the pursuit of Jarrad Branthwaite.
Jacobs has now also named the Red Devils as the ones to watch out for in the race for the Wolves stopper, revealing that the experienced defender is expected to cost around £45m.
Ben Jacobs makes transfer prediction
The journalist has now told GiveMeSport: “I would keep an eye on Max Kilman, who Manchester United have discussed since April.
“Even though the expectation is that if he departs, it could be for West Ham and a reunion with Julian Lopetegui, the number that Wolves would sell for could be too much for West Ham, because I’m told that Wolves don’t want to lose their captain, but if they do, it’s going to be for around £45m.
“And it may be that West Ham walk away at that kind of number, opening the door potentially for Manchester United.”

Interestingly Jacobs does not seem to think Tottenham are one of the leading contenders for Kilman’s signature, which is understandable as it would not make a lot of sense to pay around £45m to £50m for a fourth-choice centre-back.
Radu Dragusin‘s impressive showing towards the end of last season and in the Euros has made a new centre-back even less of a priority for Spurs than it previously was.
Tottenham are more likely to move for a younger, inexperienced defender rather than drop big money on Kilman, when the funds are needed further up the pitch.
