Cody Louviere to run for Youngsville Police Chief
YOUNGSVILLE, La. (KLFY) -- Youngsville's interim police chief, Cody Louviere, has announced he is running for the position full-time in the November election.
Louviere was appointed to serve on an interim basis in August after then-Chief Rickey Boudreaux retired for medical reasons.
In the release announcing his candidacy, Louviere said he began his law enforcement career as a Reserve Deputy for the Lafayette Parish Sheriff’s Office, and rose through the ranks, serving as Deputy, K9 Handler, Patrol Staff Sergeant, and Patrol Lieutenant.
Louiviere said as a single father of two daughters who grew up in this community, he finds it humbling to be in a leadership role at a department that ensures the safety of not only his family but also the entire community.
"I believe that leadership transcends titles and ranks," Louviere said. "From the newest recruit to the highest official, everyone has the potential to lead. True leadership involves recognizing and nurturing the strengths of your team, listening to them, and involving them in planning and decision-making."
Voters will decide Youngsville's next permanent sheriff in the presidential general election Nov. 5.
