Capital Region receives $13M for traffic improvement projects

ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- More funding is coming to the Capital Region to improve traffic congestion and reduce emissions. The New York State Department of Transportation said the region has been awarded $13.6 million for community-based investments.

Funds were awarded to four projects in the region that improve traffic flow, improve pedestrian accessibility, facilitate use of alternative fuel vehicles or broaden public transit services.

  • $4,341,280 to the Town of Bethlehem for the replacement and installation of ADA compliant sidewalks along sections of State Routes 443, 140, 396, and 85.
  • $934,352 to the Town of Bethlehem for sidewalk replacement and extension on State Route 335.
  • $3,450,356 to the Town of Clifton Park for the replacement of a signaled intersection with a roundabout and new sidewalks on Sitterly Road.
  • $4,887,648 to the County of Saratoga to construct a roundabout at the intersection of State Route 50 and Northline Road, with a multi-use path through the intersection.

The funding was part of $61.4 million that was awarded to 21 projects across the state. The projects are meant to help the state reach its goal of improving air quality and reducing carbon emissions.
