Celine Dion set for huge live comeback in just a matter of weeks after vowing to return to the stage
SHE bravely opened up this month about her battle with stiff person syndrome, a condition that has left her struggling to sing and, at times, walk.
But I can reveal that despite still facing a string of health challenges, Celine Dion’s eagerly awaited comeback could be a lot sooner than fans think.
Sources tell me she has received a formal offer from organisers of the Paris Olympics to perform during the huge opening ceremony next month.
The news comes amid whispers that a return to the Las Vegas strip is also on the table.
A source said: “Celine has made no secret of her desire to make it back to the stage, and Paris would be the perfect opportunity for her to do that.
“Unlike other offers which are full shows, making an appearance at the opening ceremony would see Celine performing just one song.
“The formal offer to perform was made earlier this year, and Celine is working around the clock to make it happen.
“She’s made huge leaps and is getting stronger every day, but she’s not out of the woods yet.
“Everyone has their fingers crossed it is able to happen. It will be quite the moment.”
Huge achievement
Remaining coy about Celine’s involvement, organisers for the Paris Olympics told Bizarre: “We want to ensure the opening ceremony is full of beautiful surprises. You’ll have to wait until July 26.”
Despite only going public with her stiff person syndrome diagnosis in 2022, Celine first experienced signs something was wrong with her health almost two decades ago.
The rare neurological condition causes muscle spasms and stiffness.
If she does make it to the stage in Paris, it will be a huge achievement for the singer.
She last played live in 2019 and was later forced to cancel the remainder of her world tour when her health issues became too much.
Determined to make a live return, Celine previously vowed: “I’m going to go back on stage, even if I have to crawl. Even if I have to talk with my hands, I will. I will.”
Celine, we have every faith in you.
Rob’s field trip
IF you spot someone lurking around London looking a lot like Robbie Williams, it probably is him.
The Angels superstar has started a joke with his wife Ayda Field which sees him loitering around tourist hot-spots in the capital to see if anyone recognises him.
And so far, it’s not been going that well.
Robbie said: “This is very concerning.
“We are walking back through Hyde Park. I am dressed completely in pink. I have got pink sneakers on.
“I have got diamante sunglasses and absolutely nobody has recognised me or has bothered me, and I really need them to.
“It was not like this in the Nineties.”
Don’t worry Rob, when you get up on stage at BST Hyde Park in a fortnight, 65,000 people will know exactly who you are.
Pink under the radar in London
SHE sold out two shows at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this month – but I can reveal Pink was still able to slip under the radar while exploring London with her family.
Enjoying a break in her touring, the US singer, inset, went incognito with daughter Willow and son Jameson to watch West End show Matilda.
Her husband, US off-road truck racer Carey Hart, also flew in for a spot of family sight-seeing.
A pal said: “Pink has been on the road over a year and though Willow comes on stage it’s hard to have family time.
“They all love London so Carey made sure to fly out. Willow and Jameson love Matilda the film, so Pink sorted tickets. There was no fanfare, she slipped under the radar without a single selfie.”
Stars who moan about being spotted should take note.
Lourdes is crop star
LOURDES LEON is giving me a massive fashion blast from the past.
The singer daughter of Madonna wore a black crop top and flare sweatpants from I Am Gia – a brand I loved and wore as a chavvy teen back in Leicester.
Lourdes went almost unnoticed as she walked around New York.
She had been on stage with her famous mum during her huge Celebration tour which wrapped in Rio de Janeiro in May – with 1.6million people cramming on to Copacabana beach to watch Madge perform.
Dave knows how to party
GARY BARLOW plays bingo and Taylor Swift throws quiet soirees.
But Dave Grohl has proved he holds the title for putting on the best post-gig parties, after transforming the changing rooms at the London Stadium into a traditional British pub.
Stars including Bono and Sir Paul McCartney were all invited for a pint at the Duke Of York boozer – which boasted a proper bar with ale pumps, benches and even specially-made beer mats.
A source said: “Dave knows how to party and loves a drink-up. He opened his own pub for his VIPs – and they stayed up until 6am going at it.
“They drank the bar dry after their last show and it was light by the time everyone started getting cars home.”
Now that is what I would call a great night out.
Halsey goes for gold
HALSEY goes for gold after making a return to the public eye after revealing they had Lupus.
The singer, who uses they/them pronouns, looked glam in a sequined top and skirt at the premiere MaXXXine at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood.
Earlier this month Halsey told their followers they were “lucky to be alive” and opened up about the diagnosis.
Halsey added: “When I’m 30, I’m having a rebirth and I’m not going to be sick.
“I’m going to look super-hot and have lots of energy and get to redo my 20s in my 30s.”
Halsey was joined by actresses Elizabeth Debicki and Lily Collins at the bash.
Lily has just finished filming the fourth series of cult Netflix hit Emily In Paris but by the look of her cool blue blazer and shorts co-ord – and a massive necklace – I think she may have raided the costume department before they called “cut”.
Elton's Roan approval
SHE is set to have both a single and an album in the Top Ten this Friday and has sold out three nights in London this autumn.
Now rising US star CHAPPELL ROAN has won the approval of ELTON JOHN.
She has described herself as “your favourite artist’s favourite artist” and that seemed to be the case after Elton shared a snap of her on Insta after they hung out in the States.
