Major League Baseball has announced the 2024 rosters for the All-Star Futures Game. The Mets’ representative on the National League roster will be their 2023 second round pick Brandon Sproat. (The Mets also drafted him in 2022 but failed to sign him.)
The Florida Gator product has had an incredible start to the season with the High-A Brooklyn Cyclones and Double-A Binghamton Rumble Ponies. In his first 13 starts, Sproat has a 5-1 record with an ERA of 1.61 and 76 strikeouts.

A powerful right-handed pitcher that has been dominating opposing hitters in his first season of professional baseball. He consistently sits in the high-90s with his fastball, which occasionally tops out in triple digits. Since Sproat was promoted to Double-A, he has only improved and cracked into the MLB Pipeline’s Top 100 prospect list at No. 98.
In seven games with the Rumble Ponies he has posted a 3-0 record with an ERA of 1.94 and 43 strikeouts, which puts him top 6 on the team in each respective category.
At the beginning of the year, Jett Willams and Drew Gilbert would have been odds-on-favorite to represent the Mets, but injuries have hampered their 2024 seasons. Other options were Luisangel Acuña, who has picked up speed the last month, and Christian Scott, but he has already made it to MLB this year.
The Futures Game will be held on Sunday, July 13, in Arlington, Texas, just before the MLB All-Star festivities kick off.
