A BELOVED Emmerdale couple split after a shocking betrayal is revealed.

A number of relationships are under strain in the village at the moment, including Moira and Cain Dingle, and Dawn and Billy Fletcher.

Laurel had discovered her husband’s lies and betrayal in recent weeks[/caption]

But in upcoming Emmerdale scenes, it’s Jai Sharma and Laurel Thomas’ relationship that cannot withstand the recent pressure it’s faced.

Laurel recently discovered that Jai had forced his birth father Amit out of the village, but not before making him sign over his share of the Hop, cutting half-brother Suni out in the process.

This week’s episodes see Jai admit to Laurel that he can’t face telling Suni the truth, leaving Laurel furious.

Their argument becomes heated and Jai insults Ashley, so Laurel sends him away.

Once alone, Laurel feels dizzy before she collapses on the floor.

She’s frightened and barely able to move, and as her phone rings she is unable to reach it.

Gabby finds Laurel struggling to breathe and Laurel fearfully asks her step-daughter to call an ambulance.

Meanwhile, sitting Suni down in The Hide, Jai tries to build up to the conversation he needs to have despite his brother’s rambling.

Incessant calls from Gabby cause Jai to snap, but he’s shocked to hear Laurel’s collapsed.

However, in new spoilers, Laurel is in the hospital and is troubled that her decision to separate from Jai hasn’t sunk in for him. 

Will she be able to get him to accept their relationship is over?

Earlier this year, Chris Bisson – who plays Jai – opened up about the re-emergence of his alter ego’s dark side, following the discovery that Amit was involved in the death of Rishi, the man he always believed to be his dad until shortly before his passing.

He said: “[This] has changed something inside him and going forward the way he views life and people and relationships may well be affected.

“Certainly the way he treats business will probably be affected too.

“I think he is going to become a bit more ruthless. He feels he has been taken for a bit of a fool and he feels like that is never going to happen again. So yes, maybe Bad Jai is back!”
