Today's five things to know features a shooting in Schenectady, a structure fire in Green Island, and a heavy traffic alert for around SPAC and Saratoga Springs on Friday and Saturday.

1. Schenectady PD investigating Mumford Street shooting

The Schenectady Police Department is investigating a shooting that happened on Mumford Street. One person was found with a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police said.

2. Crews respond to Green Island structure fire

Multiple crews responded to a structure fire in the village of Green Island Thursday night. Flames could be seen shooting through the roof of the building.

3. Schenectady Police warns about senior scams

The Schenectady Police Department has reported an increase in scams targeting seniors. These scams involve the victim usually being contacted via computer initially.

4. Man seriously injures hand with fireworks in Schenectady

The Schenectady Police Department is investigating after a 43-year-old man seriously injured his hand due to fireworks. Police said the incident happened around 8:45 a.m. on Thursday in the Hamilton Hill neighborhood.

5. Heavy traffic advisory for nearly sold-out SPAC shows

New York State Park Police have issued a heavy traffic advisory for two almost sold-out concerts at the Saratoga Performing Arts Center (SPAC). Dave Matthews Band is set to perform on July 5 and 6.
