Washington Avenue stabbing in Albany leaves two injured
ALBANY, N.Y. (NEWS10) -- Albany Police announced they are investigating a stabbing that took place near Washington Avenue on July 4. Two people were injured as a result of the incident.
On Thursday around 11 p.m., police responded to Central and Lexington Avenues following reports that someone had been stabbed in the area. Officers arriving at the scene found a 37-year-old victim with a laceration on his arm. Shortly thereafter, police responded to the 200 block of Washington Avenue for the report of a second person with a stab wound.
Officers located another victim, a 33-year-old man, who also had a laceration to the arm. Both men were tended to at the respective scenes by emergency medical personnel before being taken to Albany Medical Center to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
According to Albany Police, the preliminary investigation determined that the two men reportedly engaged each other in an altercation on Washington Avenue, resulting in both of them sustaining stab wounds. The investigation remains ongoing.
